Mondelez International has secured listings for its Milka chocolate brand in Aldi Sued stores in Germany outside of the Easter and Christmas trading periods.
Aldi stores in the south of Germany will stock Milka chocolate in block format, Mondelez confirmed.
“We complemented our Milka portfolio at Aldi Sued with classic tablets, the most popular varieties like alpin milk or noisette. Until now, we were present with a seasonal portfolio,” a spokesperson for Mondelez’s business in Germany said.
Aldi predominantly sells own-label lines but, in Germany, does have space for some branded products. Aldi Sued outlets already sell Oreo biscuits and Toblerone Minis.
Asked if Mondelez was looking to sell more brands through Aldi, the spokesperson said: “Our brands are well known and liked in Germany, especially Milka. Therefore we would like to be available everywhere for our consumers. Next to the supermarkets this includes impulse channels as well as discounters.”
