US food giant Mondelez International said it expects to hire 1,000 additional “frontline” employees in its domestic market.
The Cadbury chocolate and Oreo cookie makers said it needs to up its staffing levels to “ensure the uninterrupted functioning of our US distribution and sales network in the coming months”, with the Covid-19 outbreak in mind.

Mondelez is anticipating “additional marketplace demand” for its products and also wants to reinforce its current workforce. It is encouraging those who may been displaced by the closing of other businesses to apply for these positions.
The company has also announced enhanced benefits for existing frontline employees, including a US$2 per-hour increase until 2 May for its manufacturing, distribution and sales hourly workforce and a $125 per-week bonus for its sales representatives.
It has also revealed it will donate US$15m to “community partners” advancing Covid-19 relief efforts in the US and around the world.
