UK-based Moo Free has opened a second manufacturing facility in the southern county of Devon to meet rising global demand for its dairy-free, organic chocolate bars.

Founded in 2010 by husband and wife team Mike and Andrea Jessop, Moo Free produces a range of chocolates suitable for vegetarians and vegans that are free from gluten, soya, wheat, lactose and casein. The firm uses rice milk instead of cow’s milk to create what it says is a milk chocolate taste.

The company said the new 130-square metre factory in Holsworthy, adjacent to its existing site opened in 2014, will help facilitate quicker shipping to its customers located in more than 30 countries and “dramatically increase” daily production. The plant also comes with a new product development area.

Mike Jessop, who is also the sales and marketing director, said: “Thanks to the loyalty of our customers and our exceptional staff, Moo Free has grown quicker than we could’ve imagined. We’ve been manufacturing in Devon for just three years and we’re already having to open a second factory.”
