Natra, the Spain-based chocolate maker, has appointed Antonio Obieta as the new chairman of its board of directors.

Obieta, who has been a managing partner at food and drink consultancy Green Seed Group, replaces Juan Ignacio Egaña, who stepped down from the role last week as the company had announced at its AGM in June.

His career includes 18 years working in various roles at Cadbury Schweppes, a business he joined in 1989. In 2007, Obieta founded a consultancy called Proelza and International Wine Link. He joined Green Seed in 2013.

In June, Natra reported it returned to profit in the first quarter of this year on stable sales and lower operating costs.

In 2015, Natra generated a net profit of EUR4.5m (US$5m) and EBITDA of EUR9.9m on sales of EUR339.5m.

Natra produces chocolate bars, truffles ad chocolate spreads, selling mainly in Europe, with Germany, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK its main markets.
