Announcing the launch, the company said the range was developed using a “variety of real, quality whole ingredients” and stressed that it contains natural sources of protein such as almonds, cashews and pumpkin seeds.

Scott Coles, general manager at Uncle Tobys, said the company wanted to deliver a healthy snack without “compromising on taste”.  “Whether you’re health conscious or just someone who wants to make smarter food choices, our tasty new bars with natural protein, are a great option,” he suggested.

The bars will be available at outlets including Coles Express and 7-Eleven from this month. Uncle Tobys is also launching its first online store “exclusively for the new nut bars”, www.uncletobys.com.au.

Alongside the nut bar launch, Uncle Tobys is rolling out some new varieties of muesli-based snack bars. The company is launching what it describes as its “first savoury muesli bar”, roasted macadamia & chickpeas with spice as part of the Uncle Tobys Farmer’s Pick line. The group is also adding a “sweet and savory” option with the roll out of a pecan, maple & cashew with salt bar.

“Most people think ‘sweet’ when they hear the words muesli bar but we know a lot of consumers opt for savoury snacks, so we’ve crafted our very first unique tasting combination of chickpeas and spices to give shoppers real choice and variety,” Mr. Coles noted.
