Nestle decided to change the way it runs its division that supplies the foodservice sector.

The world’s largest food maker had been managing Nestle Professional on a global basis but has moved to run the division by region. The regional managers within Nestle Professional will report directly to their geographic divisions.

Nestle pointed to increasing demand for more “customised products and services on a local and regional basis”, which the company said was “often linked” with developments in its in-home business.

“This [decision] will allow a better leverage of the group strengths, facilitate greater focus on customers and enhance alignment and execution in each region and market,” Nestle said.

Nestle does not provide detailed financial numbers for its divisions but, when it reported its half-year results in August, the Maggi maker said Nestlé Professional had “delivered positive growth”. The group said it saw “good performances in emerging markets, particularly Mexico and Russia” and “solid results” in the US.

However, the division’s business in western Europe “continued to be challenged by the difficult trading environment”.
