Dutch retailer Ahold is to close its Internet distribution centre in Beverwijk in January next year.

The centre is part of Ahold’s Albert subsidiary, which delivers Internet orders. The unit has two other distribution centres, in Utrecht and Rotterdam, after launching in 2001.

Eighty employees will be affected by the closure, although the company will try to relocate them to its other subsidiaries including Albert Heijn, Etos, DeliXL, Gall&Gall and De Tuinen.
