Dutch health authorities are reportedly investigating a potato factory owned by French fry maker McCain Foods as a result of the recent dioxin scare in the Netherlands.

Nearly 200 farms had to be sealed off after the cancer-causing chemical was found in potato peelings used as animal feed. Authorities identified a German-made clay, used for sorting potatoes, as the probable source of the contamination.

A spokeswoman for the Dutch ministry of agriculture said the investigation was aimed at ensuring McCain is following food safety regulations regarding contamination, reported Agence France Presse.
