Correspondence between the general audit office and the cabinet has revealed that the Dutch government is preparing to implement a thorough ban on the use of animal cadavers in livestock feed. The government is hoping that the ban will also be observed throughout the EU, and talks on this are planned today at an EU farm ministers' meeting.

The practise of utilising animal remains in livestock feed has been blamed for the spread of BSE.
