Dutch life science giant DSM is to work on discovering new and improved catalytic systems, after signing a cooperation agreement with technology company Avantium Technologies.
Professor Emmo Meijer, DSM’s chief technology officer, told Food Navigator: “This collaboration complements our ongoing efforts to develop processes and improve the production of specialty chemicals in our Life Science Products cluster.
“ The high-tech throughput project has a nice fit in the DSM strategy to rank among the world’s leading players in the field of Life Sciences and Specialties.”
DSM will initially invest about €1m (US$867,000) in the project. However follow-on phases are still under discussion.
Avantium will undertake services relating to the R&D tool “high throughput experimentation”, which will increase research output.
