The European Commission said exports of live poultry and hatching eggs from the central and southern areas of the country may restart from 11 July.

“The positive report by the Dutch authorities… shows that the crisis is now over and trade activities can resume except in surveillance zones as of 11 July,” the commission was quoted by Reuters as saying.

However, all exports and transport of birds within a 10km radius of each farm where an outbreak of the disease was reported will remain banned.

Chicken exports were restarted from other parts of the country in the middle of June.
