NETHERLANDS: Mussel season delayed, workers want compensation
Dutch mussel companies have asked the government for unemployment compensation after the start of the mussel season was put back until 8 August. A spokesman from the Mussel Office, in Yerseke, revealed yesterday that experts had recommended delayed the harvesting of mussels because they still needed time to grow. This has left 300 workers in the industry without employment for another month.
