Schuitema, the Dutch retailer company behind the C1000 supermarkets, said today (27 July) that turnover for its second quarter was almost flat.

The group said turnover during the second quarter reached EUR780m (US$1.1bn), inching up 0.5% year-on-year. Turnover for the first half reached EUR1.8m, a 2.2% increase.
Retail sales of its C1000 franchise chain rose by 1% to EUR972m. First-half sales reached EUR2.2bn.
The company’s CEO Bert Roetert said sales growth had been achieved despite a fall in the number of stores; average weekly sales per store rose by 2.6% in the second quarter and 4.4% in the first half.
Schuitema is 73% owned by Dutch retailer Royal Ahold. The company will publish its full financial report for the second quarter on 9 August.
