Dutch retailer Super de Boer said first-half profits matched last year’s figure, despite a difficult economic climate.


Net profit for the first half of 2009 remained at EUR6m (US$8.4m), the same as the first six months of 2008.


Revenue increased from EUR776m last year to reach EUR792m in the first half of 2009.


Super de Boer said the result was achieved despite having ten fewer stores, which was offset by a 3.7% average consumer sales increase per store.


Result from operating activities rose to EUR10m from EUR8m in the comparable period of the previous year.

Consolidated EBITDA however, dropped to EUR19m from EUR22m in 2008.
