Jumbo said growth was primarily due to the 22 Super de Boer stores it acquired last autumn and reported a 1.2% rise in sales on an organic basis.

CEO Frits van Eerd said: ”The acquisition of Super de Boer is a huge operation, which requires a lot of our people. We are pleased that we could deliver the high expectations in the first six months.

“Despite the operational challenges and the continued competitive pressures in the market, I view the second half of this year with confidence.”
