Dutch officials revealed last week that about half of all pig producers in the country (around 7,000 farms) had used the contaminated feed.
Yesterday [Tuesday] however agriculture ministry spokeswoman Simone Braun admitted to Reuters that an additional “several thousand farms” have also been affected. These farms will be placed under slaughtering and export restrictions, although the tainted farms that have been approved as safe will still be able to slaughter and export their livestock, she added.
