Netherlands-based Go-Tan has launched its namesake Indonesian cuisine range in the UK.

The company, founded in the Netherlands in the 1950s by Indonesian immigrants, today (18 September) unveiled the range of products to be sold in the UK.

The Go-Tan range is already sold across Europe, with key markets including the Netherlands, France and Scandinavia.

The company, owned and run by the Go family, has signed a UK distribution deal with G. Costa, an arm of Associated British Foods. The business has already secured listings with UK retailers Tesco and Morrisons.

G. Costa will distribute the Go-Tan range alongside other Asian cuisine brands, including ABF’s Blue Dragon brand.

However, vice president Swan Han Go, son of the company’s founder, told just-food that Go-Tan has the credentials to succeed in the UK market.

“It will be difficult but we feel we can compete on quality – we don’t make any compromise on quality,” Go said. “We needed good distribution [in the UK] and [G. Costa] is a very strong partner.”

Go-Tan, based in the Dutch town of Kesteren, generates sales of around EUR15m (US$20.8m) a year.
