Dutch food and nutrition group Numico has asked for informal bids from selected potential buyers of its troubled US dietary supplement unit GNC to find out what price it could expect from any sale.
The company said it had not yet decided whether to sell GNC, which is the largest US food supplement chain with around 5,000 stores.
Numico is in the midst of a strategy to refocus on its core business of clinical nutrition and babyfood products.
