Australian food company Goodman Fielder today (16 March) received clearance to acquire River Mill Bakeries from the Commerce Commission.

River Mill Bakeries is an independent, privately owned bread and ingredients manufacturer based in Waikato, New Zealand. It produces bread, small goods, pizza bases, frozen goods and cookies as well as importing and distributing a variety of food products.
The commission said that it is satisfied that the acquisition will not substantially lessen competition in the New Zealand market.
Goodman’s brands include: Vogel’s, Quality Bakers, Country Split, Freya’s, Molenburg, Sunny Crust, MacKenzie, Nature’s Fresh and Golden Bake.
