Green Gloves made the threats after the government decided earlier this week to allow GM field trails to go ahead. Logan Petley, group spokesman, responded by saying that the Government had betrayed New Zealanders and “that leaves the public no option but civil disobedience to protect our country from GE accidents and contamination.”

Petley added that Green Gloves is a group of long-time environmental campaigners with no political allegiances.

ACT MP Gerry Eckhoff revealed however that his party is mulling the possibility of filing a complaint with police about the threat. He is cited in The Dominion as saying: “We have seen people purporting to represent this eco-terrorist group through the media, actively inciting people to break the law.

“This is unacceptable.”
