The Norwegian Seafood Export Council (EFF) reportedly said exports of fish and seafood fell by NOK227m (US$32.9m) in May, compared to the year-ago period, according to the Nordic Business Report.

Lower salmon exports to the EU and a fall in herring exports are thought to be the main reasons for the decline. Exports of herring products were worth NOK144m in May 2004, down NOK93m from May 2003.
