Orkla is reviewing its manufacturing network with the company admitting it has “several” plants with similar technology and production across the Nordic and Baltic markets.

The first result of the review is in Finland where the Norway-based group is looking at its snacks and frozen foods production.

“At present, Orkla has several factories with comparable technology and production in the Nordics and Baltics. We currently have too much capital tied up in maintenance and the operation of these production facilities. Going forward, we need to direct even more of our resources towards growth and innovations,” Pasi Flinkman, CEO of Orkla’s Finnish snacks and confectionery business, said.

Flinkman said Orkla was “starting the evaluation” with its snacks plant in Haraldsby on Finland’s western Aland Islands.

The specific review of this part of Orkla’s business will also take in sales and marketing staff in Vantaa, a city north of the Finnish capital, Helsinki.
