The new products, which will initially be available in Tesco stores only, are available in three flavours – red fruits; apple and cinnamon; and blueberry – “each of which provides a source of fibre and contains no added sugar”.

We have listened to consumers and we are responding to their needs with a whole raft of new product development initiatives, all of which are designed to inject growth into the category.”

McKay said: “We are particularly excited by the launch of our new breakfast pouch range, as demand for convenient on-the-go breakfast options is at a peak.”

The new products follow the launch of Quaker’s Super Goodness range in the UK in July, designed to provide what PepsiCo said were “enhanced nutritional qualities”.

In March, PepsiCo launched Quaker Breakfast Flats breakfast biscuits in the UK, which it said spoke to local demand for “nutritious and convenient morning snacks”.
