The facility is set to make cottage cheese and drinking yogurt. Construction is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018. PepsiCo said the plant will create around 60 jobs.

PepsiCo also pointed to how the investment could benefit the region. It said the milk it procured from the region would rise by around 20% to 600 tonnes a day.

Silviu Popovici, the CEO of PepsiCo’s operations in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS, said: “Building a new plant in the Krasnodar region will allow us to increase the volume of baby food production and expand the product range. We will be able to more efficiently manage logistics in the southern federal district, providing consumers with fresh, healthy and tasty products for children, made from raw milk from local farms. Through the implementation of the project, we will also create new jobs and increase the volume of purchases of raw materials from local suppliers.”
