French retailing giant Casino has revealed that by the end of 2004 it will have invested ZL5bn on the Polish market.

The investment will pay for the development of the group’s Leader Price discount shops and Geant supermarkets. According to local newspaper Prawo i Gospodarka, Casino aims to have a total of 180 Leader Price outlets and 22 Geant stores in Poland.
Yesterday, Casino inaugurated its fifteenth store in the country, which had been built at the cost of ZL200m.
This year alone, investment by Casino will reach ZL455m, and a similar amount will be spent in 2002.
