Workers at the UK retail giant’s store in the Polish town of Tychy held a one-day strike over pay this week.
The industrial action came despite Tesco being set to embark on a second round of talks with local trade unions over pay, a spokesperson for the retailer said.
“The welfare of our employees is extremely important to us and we are disappointed that some employees at our store in Tychy decided to take this action,” the spokesperson told just-food.
“We propose to raise salaries by an average of 11.5% beginning in March and are currently in the second round of talks with trade unions in Poland. This will include a discussion with the union representing staff at the store in Tychy.”
