UK retail market leader Tesco has announced further investment in its fast-expanding Polish operation.
The group has earmarked some PlZ60m (US$15m) for the construction of a hypermarket in Ruda Slaska in southern Poland.

The news is good for local builders. The Polish general contractor Intif, based in Katowice, southern Poland, will be responsible for the building project.
The new hypermarket will have a sales area of approximately 13,000 sq m and will create around 400 jobs. Scheduled to welcome its first customers in September this year, the store is Tesco#;s 16th hypermarket in Poland.
At the beginning of 2002, Tesco announced plans to open four new hypermarkets in Poland by the end of the year.
