Portugal’s Jeronimo Martins Retail is in the process of acquiring cash-and-carry retailer SCGR – Comercio por Grosso e a Retalho through its wholesale subsidiary Recheio.
“The acquisition would help us expand in the wholesale market in Portugal. We have previously announced plans to buy one or two cash-and-carry companies before 2010,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed to just-food.
Portugal’s competition watchdog Autoridade da Concorrencia is currently considering the proposal.
