Post Foods, Grupo Bimbo, Flowers Foods and Aryzta are reportedly among the suitors that have made non-binding bids to acquire Twinkies owner Hostess Brands LLC from owners Apollo Global Management and C. Dean Metropoulos & Co.

According to The New York Post, citing a source "close to the situation" the four firms placed their bids by Wednesday (27 May). The deal is reportedly worth approximately US$2bn.

Some private equity firms are also reported to have shown interest.

A spokesperson for Flowers said it did not comment on rumours or speculation. Apollo Global Management declined to comment.

Post and Bimbo could not be reached for comment at time of press. Aryzta were unavailable when contacted by just-food.
