Grupo Bimbo has confirmed production at its Canada Bread plant in Ontario is up and running again following a fire at the facility last Monday (24 November).
A spokesperson told just-food the fire originated from electrical equipment “on the exterior of Canada Bread’s bakery. Local reports suggested the fire had caused C$500,000 worth of damage. The firm did not comment on this when questioned.
No injuries were reported and all production lines resumed operation on Wednesday morning.
“The bakery is fully operational and has resumed normal operations,” just-food was told on Friday (28 November).
“While the production area of the bakery was not impacted by the fire, the facility underwent a full food safety and quality assurance inspection. Both the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Hamilton Public Health inspected the facility and are confident that all food safety and quality assurance measures have been taken,” the spokesperson added.
