
US cheese firm Queseria Bendita is recalling batches of cheese and sour cream over concerns of contamination with listeria monocytogenes that has already been linked to one death.
The firm, based in Washington state, is recalling all lots of panela, queso fresco, requeson, cotija fresh soft cheese products and sour cream.
“Up to date, there are a total of three cases of listeria monocytogenes infections linked to consumption of soft cheese produced by Queseria Bendita, including two hospitalisations and one death,” the US Food and Drug Administration said in a statement today (19 January).
The products were distributed to Hispanic grocery stores in Washington state and Oregon.
The company has agreed to cease the production and distribution of all products, the safety watchdog revealed.
