Italian risotto rice producer Riso Gallo has announced the launch of microwaveable risotto boxes in the UK.

The company claims the meal solution, prepared in 90 seconds, is a market first. It is artificial flavour, hydrogenated fats and MSG-free.

"Risotto Box is a unique and practical way to enjoy an authentically creamy and al dente risotto in only one and a half minutes. At a generous 200g, Risotto Box is a filling snack packed with protein. Easy and quick to prepare, you can now enjoy quality risotto anytime, anywhere," said managing director of Gallo UK, Jason Morrison.

The Risotto Box is available in chicken and mushroom and three cheese and vegetable varieties with a recommended retail price of GBP2.00 (US$3.09). A spokesperson said the product had listings in Asda in the UK.
