ROMANIA: 46 of 2,400 slaughterhouses meet EU sanitation standards
Of the 2,400 slaughterhouses currently operating in Romania, only 46 meet EU sanitation standards. Around 461 slaughterhouses that process red meat, 432 that make meat products and 10 that process poultry, all of which do not meet the EU sanitation standards, have been proposed for closure.

Around 364 dairies have also been proposed for closure. Some funds will be available for slaughterhouses that plan to meet the EU standards, reported the Romanian News Digest.
