Snack Ventures Europe (SVE), a joint venture between US soft drinks and snacks giant PepsiCo and US food giant General Mills, has announced that it has acquired Star Foods, a Romanian snack food manufacturer and distributor.

Star Foods, which has one factory in Bucharest, makes a range of snacks including Star Chips potato chips, Mr. Snacki corn snacks and Krax corn and potato snacks.
SVE said the acquisition provides it with a strong position in Romania’s rapidly growing market. Star Foods will also serve as a hub for manufacturing snacks for distribution throughout the Balkans. Prior to the acquisition, SVE did not have a presence in Romania.
SVE manufactures and sells snack foods in the Baltics, Belgium, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Portugal, Russia and Spain. Its products include 3-Ds, Bugles, Doritos, Fritos, Hamka’s, Lay’s, Ruffles and Dippas.
