Russian meat processor Cherkizovo has opened a second line at its poultry breeding facility at its Bryansk site.
Cherkizovo said the line consists of 26 bird houses, with a combined capacity of almost 880,000 broilers. The first line, which also has 26 houses, was opened last autumn. The combined cost for both lines is US$29.5m, Cherkizovo said today (13 April).

The company is also building a hatchery at the site with an annual capacity of 66m eggs. The hatchery should be completed in the second quarter of the year.
In 2010, the Bryansk “cluster” had a capacity of 38,200 tonnes of live weight poultry meat. Once the project is complete, the capacity will rise to 85,000 tonnes.
