Danone-Unimilk, the French food giant’s arm in Russia, has increased its stake in two local dairies.
The venture, formed in 2010 when Danone merged its Russian operations with Unimilk, is now the sole shareholder in OJSC Yekaterinburgskiy Gorodskoy Molochny Zavod no. 1, a dairy in the central city of Ekaterinburg.

Danone-Unimilk has also upped its stake in Kingisepp Dairy, a plant based in north-western Russia, from 23.3% to 65.6%.
Financial details were not disclosed for either deal, which were “initiated” by Unimilk before its merger with Danone’s Russian unit, a spokesperson said.
She said Danone-Unimilk wanted to start production of “national” brands at the Ekaterinburg plant and “strengthen” the output of baby products at the site, which makes dairy products for all ages.
“As for Kingisepp, plans are currently being developed for it and we are not ready to publicise them,” the spokesperson added.
