Kesko Food’s Russian subsidiary Cassa Oy is looking to acquire Russia’s third-largest grocery chain OOO Lenta, the company confirmed today (20 October).

A spokesperson for the group told just-food: “We have informed the competition authority of this possibility by issuing a preliminary notification of acquisition in case the opportunity [to acquire Lenta] should present itself.”
On its website, the Russian competition watchdog said that it requires further information before it is able to reach a decision. The handling time of the notification has been extended to 11 December, the regulator said.
