Canadian food processor McCain Foods plans to invest more than US$90m in a new potato processing plant in Russia’s Voronezh region.

After more than a year of talks, the company has finally agreed with the local authorities on the construction of the plant, Nikolai Nikolayenko, deputy head of the regional foreign economy department, told Prime-TASS News.
The new plant is to produce frozen French fries for McDonald’s restaurants and powdered mash potato. Construction is expected to begin between October and December this year.
