Russia has implemented temporary import restrictions on pork products from Tyson Foods and Triumph Foods due to alleged listeria contamination.
In a notice yesterday (3 September), the country’s import agency Rosselkhoznadzor said the two companies will have import restriction imposed on them after listeria and antibiotics were found in a shipment of pork from the US.

Listeria was found in a shipment of frozen boneless pork from Tyson Fresh Meats, and chlortetracycline and tetracycline antibiotics in pork from Triumph Foods, the agency said.
The restriction will be effective from 12 September while laboratory testing takes places.
A spokesperson for Tyson said: “We’re looking into the claims by Russian officials and will work diligently to quickly resolve this matter. Providing safe, high quality pork is extremely important to our business. To our knowledge, this temporary disruption in exports involves only one Tyson pork plant. Four other Tyson pork operations continue to have authorization to supply our Russian customers.”
