German Gref, the Russian Economic Development and Trade Minister, reported that the special duties will be in place until at least the end of the year to bolster the domestic food industry in the face of the currently high level of imported products.

Special duty on butter and margarine will be payable at 5%, with poultry duties as yet undecided. One of the options on the table is apparently 8.5%.

These duties would be on top of existing duties, which currently stand at 15% for butter and margarine and 25% for poultry.
