Seventh Continent has posted a 9% jump in first-quarter sales, as new store openings helped the Russian retailer expand its reach in the market.

The company said today (13 April) that total sales increased to RUB12.5bn (US$430.6m) between January and March.

Same-store sales grew more slowly, increasing by 4.9%. However, footfall at stores open at least a year rose by 7%.

Seventh Continent operates 142 outlets, up from the 139 stores it operated in the first quarter of last year.
