Russia has blocked the entry of frozen chicken legs from the US and pig products from Europe, according to the country’s consumer watchdog.
Consumer watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said Russia had stopped more than 500 tonnes of frozen chicken legs originating from the US entering the market.

It said it had also “foiled an attempt” to import into Russia more than 46 tonnes of pork fat originating in Poland and Germany, and 26 tonnes of pig liver.
Rospotrebnadzor said it was acting to “stop the spread….of counterfeit and forbidden” moving across the market.
The watchdog said it also stopped 100 tonnes of fresh apples that were improperly labelled, although it did not cite the source of the products.
Last month, Moscow issued bans on the import of a range of food products – including meat from markets including the US and the EU – in retaliation to sanctions imposed on Russia amid the crisis in Ukraine.
