Russian juice and dairy company Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods has reported a 4.6% increase in first-quarter sales volumes, helped by a strong increase in dairy product volume sales.
Combined sales volumes in the dairy, juice and mineral water segments were 391,300 tons for the first quarter to 31 March, an increase of 4.6% year-on-year.
By market segment, dairy sales volumes in the first quarter of 2004 increased 12.2% year-on-year and stood at around 286,100 tons. In the juice segment sales volumes amounted to 103,800 tons, a 12.8% decrease over the same period in 2003.
Back in March, the company posted net income of US$21.2m for the year to 31 December 2003, compared to $35.7m in the previous year. Full-year sales in the dairy segment increased 17.6% from $563.0m in 2002 to $662.3m in 2003. Sales growth in the dairy segment was made up of sales volume growth of 6.3% and an increase in selling prices.
