The company opened its first convenience style outlet in Fairland, Johannesburg, last week (23 September).

“It is too soon to say how the new format is performing, but early indications are positive,” a spokesperson for the retailer told just-food.

The format will have an average of 850 square metres of selling space and is being presented as a hybrid of convenience and supermarket shopping.

While the franchised Daily format is still in the test phase, Pick ‘n’ Pay told just-food that it is committed to growing its share of the rapidly-growing convenience segment.
