Australian cereal maker Sanitarium has announced the launch of wholefood snack bars in its domestic market.

Naturally Nood is a range of wholefood and nut snack bars that features six flavours, all which are artificial colour and flavour and preservatives free. A spokesperson for the group told just-food: "The product was launched this month to appeal to Australians looking for healthier snacks."

Lynden Rochford, senior brand manager for new brands at Sanitarium, added Naturally Nood has been developed to make wholefood snacking "a lot more compelling and fun".

"While two thirds of 25-44 year olds would prefer snacks that are healthier, more than one in three shoppers believe current offers are boring, and over half of 18-64 year olds also think they are not that good for you, rising to 61% amongst females aged 25-44 years."

Sanitarium’s nutrition manager, Trish Guy, added Naturally Nood bars scored between three to four stars under Australia's new Health Star Rating labelling system.
