Nordic poultry group Scandi Standard has signed an agreement to acquire Lagerbergs, the third-largest chicken processor in Sweden.

The family-owned company processes around 10m birds per annum and generated sales of SEK300m (US$36.5m) in 2014. Scandi Scandard will pay SEK105m for the business.

"I am very pleased to announce this proposed acquisition, securing for Scandi standard additional capacity in the Swedish market, which is growing. We believe there are significant synergies to be achieved", commented Leif Bergvall Hansen, CEO of Scandi Standard.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval.
