A second death has been announced from an outbreak of salmonella in the US linked to cucumbers.
The fatality was of a patient in Texas, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday (9 September). A patient in California has already died from the outbreak strain of salmonella poona.

Some 341 people in 30 states have been infected, the agency added. Over half of those ill are under 18 years old.
