The openings will bring DFI’s total number of outlets in the area to about 30, and build on the company’s annual sales, which DFI officials estimate are currently at S$1bn (US$0.54bn).

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday [Thursday], DFI’s country manager for Singapore, Garry Dunwell, explained that plans are in place to build on the hypermarket chain, currently numbering nine outlets, under the company’s Giant hypermarket arm. Three more outlets will be opened in Singapore, three in Indonesia and India, and 13 in Malaysia.
