The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy revealed that imports of around 680 products from BSE-affected areas will be strictly controlled. The government has also banned the import of cows, sheep and pigs from France, Britain, Ireland and the Netherlands.

The products to be affected by the new measures include pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, animal feeds and foods that are processed in the EU from cows, goats and sheep by-products. Importers will be required to submit certificates from the exporting countries guaranteeing that the products are free of any material that may transmit BSE.
