Spanish hypermarket chain Alcampo plans to invest €60m (US$73.3M) to build a new hypermarket in Granada that will be “one of Spain’s biggest,” Spanish newswire Europapress reported.

The store will reportedly measure 11,500m2 and will mark the chain’s 45th such outlet in Spain’s fast-growing hypermarket industry.


Granada is located in Soutern Spain and is home to the famous Alhambra mosque. An Alcampo spokeswoman could not immediately confirm the report. She said that Alcampo plans to inaugurate a new hypermarket in Albacete, Spain by year-end to close the year with 46 outlets.


Alcampo’s biggest Spanish store is located in Alcorconoutside Madrid and measures 14,200m2.
